Colonic Hydrotherapy - Find a Feeling of Health and Well-Being

Colonic hydrotherapy is nothing new. In fact, the ancient Egyptians believed in utilizing therapeutic enemas to rid themselves of the waste and decay which they believed was what caused death. Hydrotherapy is practiced today in aesthetic clinics around the world to rid people of compacted feces and to end constipation. It is also practiced as a weight reduction method. Once you get beyond the initial embarrassment factor of having a colonic, which is also known as a high colonic, you will find that you feel a sense of well-being and health after undergoing one.

There are some colonic hydrotherapy kits that you can use at home, but probably the best method is to have a professional manage your colonic hydrotherapy. In that way, you can ensure that you are not introducing too much water into the bowel and colon, which might cause problems such as a perforated bowel, which can be quite dangerous. With a colonic, a technician will insert a probe into your rectum. This is probably the most uncomfortable part of the process, but if you relax, it is not painful at all. Next, she will pump warmed water through a tube and into the probe. The warmed water expands the colon and allows for impacted waste to be released. All you have to do is lie on a table and relax during this process.

Once all of the warm water is inside your body, then the process of allowing the water back out along with all the waste material begins. The technician will stop the flow of the water which causes pressure in your bowel. The pressure causes your colon to push out the water along with the waste. This process will go on for several minutes until all of the water is out. You will notice that at first, you will see only brownish or yellowish water coming out. As more water is eliminated during the colonic hydrotherapy process, however, you will begin to see feces and other solid wastes. Sometimes you will even see things like tomato or potato skins flowing out of your backside.

When all of the water is out, you may experience some cramps which is just the colon going back down to its normal size after being stretched by the water. You may also feel like you have to use the restroom. If you do, you will see more water and waste come out. Over the next 48 hours or so, you may also experience flatulence which will go away. It is a bit of a nuisance, but the feeling of lightness and well-being surely outweighs the cons of getting colonic hydrotherapy.
